FAQ
Pickleball Rules?
USA Pickleball is the standard for the rules of the game. The official rulebook can be found at usapickleball.org. When in doubt — refer there first.
What are player ratings?
Pickleball uses a skill rating system to help players find competitive matches. Ratings typically range from 2.0 (beginner) to 5.5+ (professional). The most common systems are DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) and the USA Pickleball rating. DUPR is algorithm-based using your actual match results — it's the most accurate and widely used today.
What is MY rating?
The best way to get a DUPR rating is to play in rated matches or tournaments. Sign up at mydupr.com and log your matches. You can also join our Jarhead Pickleball DUPR Club to play in rated games with local players. Not sure where you fall? Book a lesson and we'll give you an honest assessment.
What equipment do I need?
To get started you need a paddle, pickleballs, and court shoes. That's it. You don't need expensive gear to start — but the right paddle makes a big difference as you improve. Visit our shop for partner discounts on paddles and gear, or contact us for personalized equipment recommendations.
Where can I play in the Greater Philadelphia area?
There are courts throughout Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. The Global Pickleball Network and USA Pickleball's Places to Play tool are great resources for finding courts near you. You can also join our Facebook Group to connect with local players.
